Merle Haggard is one of Muskogee, Oklahoma’s most famous names & he never even lived there. In his honour, the city has created a memorial to the recently deceased country icon. The memorial includes a bronze sculpture of Haggard, sitting on a bench with a guitar case & a hat. Although Haggard is a California native, his parents resided in Oklahoma, slightly south of Muskogee, before moving west. In September of 1969, the country legend released “Okie From Muskogee,” which became one of his signature songs.

Country legend Kenny Rogers has revealed the initial dates & locations of his final world tour, set to kick off May 13 . Calling the trek The Gambler’s Last Deal, the tour will visit cities across the U.S. from Rochester, N.Y., to Santa Rosa, Calif., before heading to Southeast Asia in August & Europe in late October.
