The title track to "Summer #17" has a similarly nostalgic air. Dates are being finalized for his "40/40 Vision Tour," celebrating more than 40 years & 40 #1 country hits!

BOB’S WEEKLY BLOG JANUARY 14TH 2014 Posted: Tue 14th Jan 2014 - 13:01

I'm backkkkk .. I hope everyone had a great Christmas & New Year break!!!!

Now for what's happening in COUNTRY

The Eli Young Band's new album 10,000 Towns will be released this March & the bands Mike Eli, says that this record is a little bit more on the up-tempo side than any record they've ever made before. As for their current single "Drunk Last Night", Mike says it has an unlikely fan, his 18 month old daughter! When asked if he worried about his daughter 'Kline Olivia' learning the lyrics to their current hit Drunk Last Night, Mike says, "My daughter loves Drunk Last Night. She's like, "Daddy again, daddy again, daddy again!" & that means play Drunk Last Night!!!!

Miranda Lambert is returning to "TheVoice" as a mentor for Team Shakira on season six which premieres February 24 in the USA.

Rumor has it Billy Ray Cyrus is remaking his hit single "Achy Breaky Heart" into a hip-hop-song. Do you think the song stands the test of time and genre to have what it takes to make a comeback? Just based on the trend in music, it will probably be a smash hit. I however, believe there are some songs that have had their moment & this is one of them.

Rascal Flatts upcoming album will be kind of a rebirth for the group, their new release will feature the song "Rewind". Thirteen years together as a group they will hit the road soon with Sheryl Crow to promote their new music.

The wait is nearly over for Dierks Bentley. His new cd will be out in February called "Riser", "Hold On" is the first single released. The recording took place following the death of his Father & is a very "personal" project for Dierks.

Florida Georgia Line are having great success with "Cruise", now the #1 most downloaded country single of all time. The song has sold more than 6.3 million copies.

Taylor Swift & Hunter Hayes have made it to the 30 under 30 List of the brightest young stars in Forbes Magazine.

The compilation album showcasing finalists & ultimate winners from this year's Golden Guitar Awards - The Winners 2014 - has been released by the Country Music Association of Australia. The Winners 2014 is a combination CD & DVD featuring established artists like Lee Kernaghan, The McClymonts & Sara Storer alongside new stars & breaking acts like Ashleigh Dallas, The Adam Eckersley Band, Luke O'Shea & Jasmine Rae. The 42nd Golden Guitar Awards, Country Music Awards of Australia will be staged at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment & Conference Centre on Saturday January 25.

BOB’S WEEKLY BLOG DECEMBER 17TH 2013 Posted: Wed 18th Dec 2013 - 12:12

The year may be nearing an end, but for Florida Georgia Line, it just keeps getting better. The CMT Artists of the Year honorees will wrap their Here's to the Good Times tour & Billboard magazine has placed them at the top of their Best of 2013 list for the country genre.

The first time Martina McBride released an album of cover songs it was the fastest-selling album of her career. "Timeless" was released in 2005 & sold more than 1 million copies & with the release of "Everlasting," her second collection of cover tunes, she's hoping for the same success. Tracks include "If You Don't Know Me By Now," originally by Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes, "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man," popularized by Aretha Franklin, & Sam Cooke's "Bring It on Home to Me," which McBride performs as a duet with Gavin DeGraw.

On her 24th birthday, Taylor Swift was the one giving the gifts, the pop/country star has made a $100,000 donation to the Nashville Symphony. The donation caps a difficult 2013 for the symphony, which suffered a financial crisis earlier this year. Swift's donation news comes two months after the opening of the Taylor Swift Education Center in Nashville, the product of a $4 million donation Swift pledged to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012.

Rolling Stone magazine is going country. The venerable rock & roll, politics & pop culture magazine announced this week that it will be launching Rolling Stone Country in 2014. Rolling Stone cited strong country album sales as one reason for the expansion. They are up 4.2 percent, thanks to best-selling artists like Taylor Swift & Luke Bryan.

Jayne Denham's latest single 'Beyond These City Lights' features special guest Shannon Noll. Shannon was recently featured on 'Australian Story' by the ABC. 'Beyond These City Lights' is the third single from Jayne Denham's new album Renegade

Harvey & Cassar-Daley withdraw from Golden Guitars. Comments led to the duo's withdrawal. The album has racked up big sales & is a collection of some of Country music's biggest hits.

The Album of the Year nominated The Great Country Songbook ,is one of the best albums released this year, but claims that it featured too many American songs has caused the duo to withdraw.

If you like Country, keep it on Stereo 974 weekdays 8am til" 6pm & overnight with Rod Boyd Midnight to Dawn - seven nights a week!!!!

Have a great week!

Could an Academy Award be in Hank Williams Juniors future? The tune is played as Clooney & Bullock, who are on a mission in space realize they are in grave danger when their shuttle is destroyed & their hope of rescue diminishes.
