BOBíS WEEKLY BLOG 4TH DECEMBER 2014 Posted: Thu 4th Dec 2014 - 13:12

Jana Kramer celebrated her 31st birthday on Dec. 2, and it will certainly be a day she'll remember. The actress / singer's boyfriend, football player Michael Caussin, proposed, and the couple is now engaged to be married. Kramer and Caussin, who began dating earlier this year, celebrated her birthday all day, but the highlight of the festivities came when he popped the question in front of a small group of Kramer's family and friends.  Recently on the chart with "Love".

Reba McEntire, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn are joining forces for a Las Vegas residency. 'Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas' will debut in late June at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. These will be the first shows Brooks and Dunn have played together since they retired from performing as a duo in 2010.

Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Centre was filled to the brim with country stars for the 2014 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony Dec. 2. It was an especially memorable event, as Merle Haggard received the first-ever Artist of a Lifetime Award and was honoured by many country favourites throughout the evening.

In case you haven't noticed, country music's biggest smashes are lately concerned with just one thing: getting smashed.  Recent hit singles include Jerrod Neimann's Drink to That All Night, Little Big Town's Day Drinking, Dierks Bentley's Drunk On A Plane, Toby Keith's Drunk Americans, Lee Brice's Drinking Class, Brantley Gilbert's Bottoms Up, Frankie Ballard's Sunshine and Whiskey, Cole Swindell's Ain't Worth The Whiskey, and Lady Antebellum's Bartender - and those are just songs that reference drinking in the title.  With the party season hotting up, expect to see more drinking songs come out.

Country duo LoCash Cowboys have signed a new record deal. The news comes at an exciting time for Chris Lucas and Preston Brust, who have been touring heavily over the past several months and building momentum. In addition to their new music in the works, Chris and Preston have dropped the last part of their long time moniker and will be going simply by LoCash on the new recordings.

Country singer Craig Campbell is kicking off December in a big way, with the announcement of a new recording deal with Red Bow Records, a division of Broken Bow.

Keith Urban can add another No. 1 song to his list of things to be grateful for this holiday season. His latest single, "Somewhere in My Car," topped the Billboard country chart marking his 15th No. 1 single on Billboard's chart. The idea for the song, which Urban co-wrote with J.T. Harding, was actually born in Urban's car. Urban is currently in Europe with his wife, Nicole Kidman, while she finishes filming a new movie.

BOBíS WEEKLY BLOG 26TH NOVEMBER 2014 Posted: Wed 26th Nov 2014 - 15:11

Watch for an upcoming album with good friends Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris says that that the duo is keeping it simple. Harris will be honoured with a star studded tribute concert, 'The Life & Songs of Emmylou Harris,' featuring Crowell, Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow and many more, in January.

Carrie Underwood's 'Greatest Hits: Decade #1′ is still a few weeks off, but the singer is spilling the details of another one of the new songs, 'Little Toy Guns.' "There's these characters in the song, and there's a little girl, and she hears her parents fighting, as unfortunately a lot of kids do," "So it's basically her saying, in her words, I wish their words weren't real. I wish they were like little toy guns and they didn't hurt you."

Taylor Swift has had her own exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and now she'll have an exhibit at the Grammy Museum, in Los Angeles, as well. 'The Taylor Swift Experience' will open on Dec. 13, Swift's 25th birthday, and run through May 10, 2015.

Closing in on his 80th Birthday , "Jerry Lee Lewis" has released his latest cd "Rock n' Roll Time" It features a couple of Chuck Berry covers, "Little Queenie" and "Promised Land," "Keep Me in Mind" and a terrific take on "Folsom Prison Blues" .

Trisha Yearwood's new album PrizeFighter: Hit after Hit, a 16-song collection featuring not only 10 of Trisha's biggest hits, but also six new songs, including her latest single, the title track "PrizeFighter" featuring Kelly Clarkson. And for Trisha, back with her first new music in seven years, getting back into the studio was a great feeling, but now is the nervous time.
Listen out for tracks from the new cd on Stereo 974.

BOBíS WEEKLY BLOG 19TH NOVEMBER 2014 Posted: Wed 19th Nov 2014 - 11:11

Blake Shelton has released the music video for "Lonely Tonight," featuring a guest spot from Ashley Monroe, a member of Blake's wife Miranda Lambert's Pistol Annies trio. The video features the two pining over lost love. "I could be there in five / One more one last time," Shelton sings on the romantic cut. While Blake and Ashley are not romantically involved, it's not as though they're strangers. Blake officiated the wedding between Monroe and her hubby John Danks in 2013. "Lonely Tonight" is the second single from Blake's latest LP, Bringing Back the Sunshine.

Jake Owen, Cole Swindell & Chase Rice Added To Kenny Chesney's Big Revival Tour! Jake Owen, Cole Swindell and Chase Rice will be joining Kenny Chesney's Big Revival tour in 2015. Chesney explains that the three special guests, who will join him at selected tour dates, were chosen to take part in the tour for their songwriting skills.

Let's congratulate Miss Libby Barnes on snagging Hunter Hayes. Libby is a 25 year old makeup artist/hair stylist.

Sam Hunt chose an unusual name for his debut album, and now he's chosen an equally unusual name for his first headlining tour as a household name. Sam Hunt's Lipstick Graffiti Tour will launch January 29 at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California and will run through mid-April. Just made number one recently with "leave the night on "

Clay Walker just finished up his upcoming album, a release he says has been greatly influenced by radio. But being influenced by radio doesn't mean that Walker's sound has changed drastically. He sees country music moving back to its roots in the future, rather than becoming more urban. This will mark the first album from Walker in three years. A release date has not yet been announced.

Jasmine Rae the 2014 CMC Female Australian Artist of the Year has released a brand new single, 'Why'd You Tie The Knot.' The song is the latest single to be lifted from her smash hit If I Want To, which was nominated for an ARIA Award and three Golden Guitar Awards. It's the only one from her record she didn't write herself.

The McClymonts are set to launch a new eastern states tour off the back of their latest single, 'Forever Begins Tonight.' The band will then hit the road in early 2015 to promote the single and their latest album "Here's To You & I".

After releasing two up-tempo singles already, 'Friday Night' and 'Song About a Girl,' the singer-songwriter says he was ready to show people his softer side.

Billy Currington's 'Don't It' is the first single from an upcoming sixth studio album. Sonically, the Georgia-based singer continues to nudge his beach-inspired style forward. He's amongst the best at marrying traditional and modern elements of the genre.

Bucky Covington is finding his life filled with pink after he and his fiancée, Katherine Cook, welcomed their new baby girl Kennedy Taylor Covington today in Nashville.

Haven't heard much from Lauren Alaina lately . Turns out there's a good reason, she recently underwent vocal surgery. Music Row confirmed the news today, singer songwriter Lauren Alaina underwent vocal surgery at Vanderbilt in August, to repair damage on her vocal cords.

With the help of Kid Rock, Jerrod Niemann, Colt Ford and Jamey Johnson raised over $40,000 for charity at his recent golf tournament. The event took place at the Cottonwood Golf Club in Montgomery, Ala., to raise money for the Nikki Mitchell Foundation, which seeks to fight pancreatic cancer.

Jason Aldean and his fiancee, Brittany Kerr, have not yet announced a wedding date, but the singer already knows what kind of ceremony he wants to give his new bride. Aldean says "We're happy, and this is obviously gonna be her first wedding, so she wants the whole big deal." The couple was the subject of intense public scrutiny in 2012, when pictures surfaced of them kissing in a bar while Aldean was still married to his first wife. They went public with their relationship after his divorce and announced their engagement in September.

Old Boots, New Dirt' was released on Tuesday (Oct. 7). The album's first single, 'Burnin' It Down,' has been the fastest breaking single of Aldean's career and dominated the No. 1 spot in Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, going Platinum in just nine weeks.

Singer songwriter Luke O'Shea dominated the Southern Stars,  Australian independent Country Music Awards. Luke, who has previously won five Southern Stars, took home four more this year... Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, mostly for his song Three Brothers (The Great War) and album Sing You Up.

Aleyce Simmonds won Female Vocalist of the Year with Believe.

The Doobie Brothers country collaboration album, 'Southbound,' features a lot of big name country artists: The Zac Brown Band recorded with the group on their song, 'Black Water,' and it was a dream come true for Zac Brown. Before Brown made it, he sang a lot of covers. He says that 'Black Water' was one of the songs he sang for tips, and he's not the only one. The album is chock full of country covers of Doobie Brothers songs, and its set for release on November.

BOBíS WEEKLY BLOG 2ND OCTOBER 2014 Posted: Thu 2nd Oct 2014 - 13:10

Early in the week the weatherman called for rain on Sunday (Sept. 28), but you couldn't have ordered a more perfect day for Dierks Bentley's annual Miles & Music for Kids charity motorcycle ride and concert. Dierks, Chris Young, Randy Houser, Kip Moore, Jon Pardi and all the riders and volunteers for this year's event. The riders travelled from the Harley-Davidson dealership in Columbia, Tenn., to Nashville's Riverfront Park, where the stage was set for the day's show.

It's been a couple years since Casey James' "Crying on a Suitcase" hit the country charts, but the singer/guitarist has been busily working on new music in the meantime. Casey's new single, "Fall Apart," has him in the role of a man sorting through the rubble after a breakup. The guy in the song has made some strides in the right direction, but upon spotting his former love somewhere he's broken all over again. The song will appear on Casey's forthcoming album.

Josh Turner has a message to deliver with his new single, "Lay Low," which has recently hit radio. You can hear it on Stereo 974 your home for Country. "Lay Low" speaks to our need to find some escape from the modern world of cell phones and interruptive technology.

THE CHARLIE ďZIFFAĒ ZAMMIT STUDIO Posted: Thu 25th Sep 2014 - 14:09

On Wednesday 24th September during our Maltese Program, 6pm to 8pm, STEREO 974 opened its doors to the Maltese Community. This event was to honour the late Charlie "Ziffa" Zammit, by dedicating Studio One, The Charlie "Ziffa" Zammit Studio.
A plaque was presented to Charlie's wife Carmen and then proudly mounted on the wall of Studio One.

Throughout the program Charlie's wife Carmen and their son Michael participated "On - Air". Some 50 people attended to witness the dedication of Studio One and then partake in refreshments afterwards.

Charlie had joined STEREO 974 in the 1990's and was as reliable as clockwork every Wednesday and Thursday between 6pm and 8pm to conduct the Maltese Program, he was an active member of the Maltese Community and the volunteer and charity work that he carried out was amazing.

Charlie's wife Carmen is still actively engaged in the program as well as Ray Anastasi, Mary- Louise Anastasi and Joe Farrugia.

The dedication of Studio One in honour of Charlie was a fitting tribute to someone who gave his all for STEREO 974 and in fact he served a considerable time on our Committee of Management in the role as Vice President.

BOBíS WEEKLY BLOG 24TH SEPTEMBER 2014 Posted: Wed 24th Sep 2014 - 13:09

Be sure and get the deluxe version of "Sundown Heaven Town." As I mentioned before, it contains 18 cuts; the latest release, "Shotgun Rider", but I think there at least three more viable ones. "Sick of Me," "Keep on Truckin" and "I'm Feelin' You" are hooky, cleverly worded hits in the making for me.

"George Hamilton IV." A very interesting Country singer who passed away this week. He had a very long career. Much can be learned from the first Country singer to play Russia and record in Eastern Europe. He was the International Ambassador of Country music. Biggest hits, "Why don't they understand" and in 1962 "Abiline", recorded by many Country Greats including Waylon Jennings.

Kenny  Chesney's new one "Til IT's Gone" celebrates a man who plans on relishing every moment with his lover 'til it's gone drinking it in while every moment lasts living every moment with her until that moment's done gone. Cool song Kenny's in great voice. It's from the new cd "The Big Revival", hear tracks played on Stereo 974 right now.

Garth Brooks has beaten his own personal record for tickets sold in Florida. The record was previously set during his five shows played from February 27th through March 4th in 1997 at the Jacksonville Coliseum. Those 56,243 paid admissions broke Elvis Presley's 1975 record. Garth has now surpassed that number and is still selling. Garth's current hit "People loving People" now playing on your station for Country.

The Grand Ole Opry is set to celebrate its 89th birthday on Oct. 10 & 11 with four weekend Opry shows in which country favorites will share the stage with the Opry's birthday cake, plus a concert by Opry member Craig Morgan, backstage tours, free music on the Opry Plaza, and more.

Joel Crouse has been trying to make his way in Nashville since he was 16, and he's learned a lot in the last six years by surrounding himself with some of Music City's best. Crouse's debut studio album, 'Even the River Runs,' was released in August.

It was a birthday to remember for Trisha Yearwood. The songstress, who turned 50 on Sept. 19, celebrated the milestone with 16,000 of her closest friends. Trisha was in Atlanta as part of her husband Garth Brooks World Tour. Brooks invited the entire audience to sing 'Happy Birthday' to his wife, and he delivered a large cake in the shape of her home state.

Congratulations to Doug Bruce on reaching Number One this week with his song "Broke Down Heart" on high rotation at Stereo 974.

In addition to 'Don't Wait Up,' the five-song EP features covers of Jones' classics 'She Thinks I Still Care,' 'If Drinkin' Don't Kill Me' and 'The Door.'

Gord Bamford is officially an international superstar. Gord recently took home three Canadian Country Music Awards, including being named the Country Music Association's Global Artist of the Year. The final song Glen Campbell recorded, 'I'm Not Gonna Miss You,' will be released later this month. The 'Wichita Lineman' singer was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2011. He recorded 'I'm Not Gonna Miss You' in early 2013.

Willie Nelson is one of a number of artists featured on an upcoming Paul McCartney tribute album. The project was created to pay homage to some of McCartney's most legendary songs, including hits from his time with the Beatles and the Wings, as well as his solo projects. Nelson sings 'Yesterday,' which McCartney wrote for the Beatles 1965 album 'Help!' The song is one of the most covered in music history, with over 2,200 versions.

'Sundown Heaven Town' is McGraw's 13th studio album, featuring the hit song 'Meanwhile Back at Mama's,' as well as the current single, 'Shotgun Rider.' The deluxe version features collaboration with Kid Rock, an artist the 'Highway Don't Care' singer admits he has great respect for.

BOBíS WEEKLY BLOG 11TH SEPTEMBER 2014 Posted: Thu 11th Sep 2014 - 12:09

Lee Brice showed off a new song called "Drinking Class" during his September 2 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. "Our next guest is a Grammy nominated country singer/songwriter and musician," says Letterman while introducing Brice. "His forthcoming album entitled I Don't Dance will be in stores next week". Hear the song getting high rotation on Stereo 974.

Apologies to all who couldn't hear our show on Monday, was booked in at the Dentist for a Root Canal Session.  The gap not only happened in my show but overnight as well back to normal now!

Brad Paisley supports Taylor Swift's decision to move from country music into the pop arena. Paisley believes that people are "just going to have to get used to it" when it comes to Swift churning out pop hits.

Carrie Underwood has teamed up with producer Jerry Bruckheimer to develop her single "Two Black Cadillac's" into a six-hour series, the TV event focuses on a "murderous love triangle" with two women seeking revenge. The song itself describes a funeral of a man who was killed by his wife and mistress.

It's a pretty bold move to try and cover ANY song of Adele, and especially 'Set Fire to The Rain'. But if you're name is Danielle Bradbery you can pull it off. Danielle had a big hit recently with "Heart of Dixie".

Josh Turner and wife Jennifer are now the proud parents of four sons as they welcomed new baby boy Samuel Turner into the family. Another new arrival for Josh is his new single now on Stereo 974, "Lay Low", Listen out for it.

Garth Brooks has re ignited the fire with his brand new hit "People loving People" from his upcoming album, now being aired on Your Station.

The 6th album by Jason Aldean that features his top ten hit "Burnin it down" has a lot of different sounds. Jason has experimented with a number of tracks, the title of the album "Old Boots New Dirt" contains 15 songs.

Like Darius Rucker?  His new single is hot! "Home grown Honey" from his upcoming album. Written by Rucker along with Lady Antebellum singer Charles Kelley, it's an up tempo song about a country girl turning heads in a city bar.

Have a great week!
