STEREO 974 RESPONDS RE FUEL LEAKIN NEWPORT Posted: Tue 12th Dec 2006 - 19:12

At 6PM tonight (Tuesday 12 December 2006) General Manager of STEREO 974 Mr Rod Boyd received a telephone call placing STEREO 974 on standby by the Hobson Bay City Council Municipal Emergency Resource Officer, Mr Eddie Knights re a Fuel Leak at the Corner of Challis and Market Streets Newport. The initial standby was for Emergency Response broadcasting to advise local residents and vehicle drivers in the area of the current situation.

STEREO 974 swung into action liaising with the Mr Eddie Knights and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. A message was broadcast to air immediately and subsequently every 30 Minutes, both in English Language and Ethnic Languages.

A large number of calls were received at STEREO 974 from listeners expressing their thanks and appreciation for firstly the prompt manner in which the messages were broadcast and appreciation as they could take the relevant detours to avoid further congestion.

This outside broadcast featured interviews with Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Victoria Police, State Emergency Service, Crime Stoppers, Street Surfer Bus and Other Personnel.

The STEREO 974 purpose built Outside Broadcast Van was utilised for the filming which took place in a North Western Suburb, on Friday 2 December 2005.

STEREO 974 features three times during the Movie and the STEREO 974 Logos and Signage are featured as the rights to use them were assigned to Malloy Productions for the purpose of utilisation in the Movie.

"STEREO 974 was thrilled at the reception that we received at the PAJERO CLUB MEETING on Wednesday 20 September 2006.

The STEREO 974 Four Wheel Drive Program consisting of Michael Coldham, Peter Dwyer, Alison McLaughlin, Ian Lacey and Joanne Lacey, were all in attendance, and the Program will be broadcast on Saturday 28 October 2006, between 10am and 11am.

    General Manager of STEREO 974 Mr Rod Boyd announced today that "STEREO 974 is thrilled to be announcing a new programming initiative which will commence on 1 SEPTEMBER 2006".

    Country music with an emphasis on promoting the Australian Country Music Artists and Industry will go to air 5 days a week from 3PM until 6 PM. The Program will be hosted by well known Country Music Identity, ROD BROWN. This will further enhance STEREO 974’s commitment to the Australian country music industry and bring our total hours of Country Music to 65 hours per week."

    STEREO 974 announced today that their popular SAMOAN YOUTH PROGRAM has been "Overheating our Telephone System". On our monthly telephone account, we are also given a Computer read-out of the number of Telephone calls made to our Studio Line (9318-0444), that received the "Busy Tone" i.e. all three rotary lines must be engaged before the busy tone is given. During the period 10PM To 12 MIDNIGHT ON TUESDAY 20 JUNE 2006. OUR SAMOAN YOUTH PROGRAM HAD A TOTAL OF 941 "BUSY TONES" THAT WENT OUT.

    STEREO 974 General Manager, Rod Boyd said today "STEREO 974 returned to LIVE PROGRAMMING AT 6PM YESTERDAY MONDAY 10 JULY, 2006.

    Work is still going on around the clock and a great deal of effort is being put in by everyone here at STEREO 974 from our Technicians, IT specialists, Electrician, Carpenter, Painter, Carpet Layers and our Insurance Company as well as everyone else who has supported us not only with the initial clean up, but with on going support as well. I have been overwhelmed by the support from our many listeners who have taken the time to call the station and offer their support and assistance. All damages sustained are covered by Insurance."
