ON YER BIKE AIRS ON STEREO 974 Posted: Wed 15th Apr 2009 - 09:04

Targetting the 25+ demographic, "On Yer Bike" has gone to air on STEREO 974 in Melbourne and will also be available via the Internet on www.stereo974.com with a totally new and fresh format, specifically focused on all facets of motorcycling (Leisure, Sport, and Daily Commuting). As you will be aware, STEREO 974 is committed to broadcast programmes of interest to the various communities and social groups which make up our country. The motorcycling community is a culture group, of some 1 million plus nationally and which has been starved for an acceptable Australian programme to call their own; one with which their diverse fraternity can identify.

We at STEREO 974 have developed a 2 hour programme, formatted to appeal to the diverse, but yet united motorcycle community. The name "On Yer Bike" is a title which can and will evoke the desired level of interest from the million plus long-time riders, not to mention aspiring and "wannabe" riders and their families in Australia.

We have managed to secure the experienced and proven talent of Tony Quantrell (Quanny to his friends), a dyed-in-the-wool motorcycle enthusiast, with the presence, experience and knowledge to add excitement to the programme from day one. Quanny is well known for his long running association with Harley riders throughout Victoria. Quanny is an accomplished and knowledgeable motorcyclist, who will give us that recognizable quality and presence, so necessary to the radio audiences of today.

Quanny will add support to anchorman and experienced presenter Alex Money. Alex has been an integral part of the motorcycle culture for many years, Alex is a past president of The Motorcycle Riders Association of Australia and is currently on the Executive Committee of the Victorian Motorcyclists Union, he is well known for being an active lobbyist for motorcyclists within Government circles and was founder and host of the popular mainstream radio programme "On Yer Bike". Alex now brings his experience to STEREO 974.

"On Yer Bike" is scheduled to be aired in the time slot of 10:00AM-12Noon on Saturday, which is considered prime time for this type of programme.

Please feel free to contact Alex on 0414 994 600 at any time. We look forward to welcoming you to "On Yer Bike" and STEREO 974 you are welcome to call our talk-back line on 9318 0444 to contribute to the programme on air with worthwhile, topical comment.

CRIMESTOPPERS AWARD Posted: Wed 25th Feb 2009 - 16:02

At the request of General Manager Rod Boyd of STEREO 974, I attended an appreciation ceremony held at Government House on Thursday 19th February, 2009. Awards and appreciation certificates were handed to various ethnic media agencies for their services to the Multilingual Crimestoppers program.

Mr Boyd was unable to attend the function. He requested I attend on behalf of STEREO 974 to receive an appreciation. As a local Policemen and working partner of the Radio Station, I was very proud to represent our local Station. STEREO 974 received a certificate of appreciation for their services and contribution to the Crimestoppers Multilingual Program. STEREO 974 have been promoting the Crimestoppers project for a number of years as a part of their community contribution.

I am sure that due to the contribution of local radio stations such as STEREO 974 that a number of crimes have been solved, property recovered and many persons charged with various offences. Police rely on public information. Crimestoppers is an integral tool for modern Policing. The telephone number of Crimestoppers is 1800 333 00. You may give information anonymously to Crimestoppers. If urgent ring 000.

On behalf of the Pro-active units based at Footscray Police, I would like to congratulate Rod Boyd and his dedicated team at STEREO 974. I am sure our partnership will continue for many years.

Regards
Craig Spicer

VICTORIA POLICE ARE ABOUT TO LAUNCH A FUNDRAISER FOR MY ROOM Posted: Tue 11th Nov 2008 - 13:11

Victoria Police are about to launch a fundraiser for "My Room". My Room is a part of the cancer Ward at the Royal Children's Hospital. The Administration and Director of My Room are volunteers and no person gets paid for their work at the Royal Children's Hospital. For those of you who know a child who has been in My Room you will be aware of the help they give to children living with cancer. Further details about My room can be found at www.myroom.com.au

As a part of the project sixteen Police will be walking from Wodonga to Melbourne from 22nd November to 28th November. The Police will stop in Beechworth, Wangaratta, Benalla, Mansfield, Yea and Whittlesea where there will be activities at each venue. The activities will include, fetes, carnival rides, sportsman's night, Police bands, auctions and other charity events to raise funds for the cause. The final leg of the walk will conclude at Royal Children's Hospital on Friday 28th November at 11 am with the Police showband, and activities on the day. Silvers Circus on the night will be selling tickets for the night show and all proceeds will be donated to My Room.

I have been selected to take part in the walk and will represent Police from the Western Suburbs. My motivator is a young 8 year old boy who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer and he is going to walk the last few kilometres with me subject to his health.

As a part of the project, I would hope that local services or businesses will get on board to support me. Support may include meeting me at the end of the walk, donations of merchandise that can be auctioned at one of our events or even a personal sponsorship for each kilometre I walk. As we speak, I have a pledge sheet and donation book ready to fill. You may have other ideas in which to be involved so please let me know.
